We have just come through a season which causes a lot of stress for many people. Parties, shopping, interrupted meal schedules, and emotional family gatherings are all causes of stress. This stress has the potential to threaten the health of your spine, causing back pain or neck pain. Give the gift of massage and chiropractic therapy to yourself! When chiropractic therapy and massage therapy are used in conjunction with each other, the whole person is treated with natural, hands-on, and drug-free techniques.

It's an unfortunate fact of life that stress has become a way of life for a lot of people today. Living with chronic stress can lead to anxiety, depression, and even serious health problems. In addition to seeking chiropractic therapy, there are ten stress-relieving tips that you can practice on a daily basis in less than 15 minutes. Here we discuss the first five tips:

1. Meditate. Research indicates that daily meditation may make you more resilient to stress by redirecting the brain's neural pathways. Close your eyes and focus your attention by reciting (out loud or silently) a positive thought, scripture verse, or other inspirational quote for a few minutes. Don't let the worries of the day distract you.

2. Breathe. Take a 5-minute break during the day and focus on your breathing to help slow your heart rate and lower blood pressure. Sit up straight, eyes closed. Slowly inhale through your nose, feeling the breath start in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth.

3. Slow Down. Focus for about five minutes on one action or activity--enjoy the texture and taste of each bite of food; take a walk and look at the clouds and blue sky, feel the wind in your face, and smell the roses. .

4. Call a Friend. Share what's going on—preferably face to face or on the phone. You can get a fresh perspective while keeping your connection strong.

5. Listen to Your Body. Mentally assess your body to get a sense of how it is affected by stress. Lie on your back, or sit with your feet on the floor. Start at your toes and work your way up to your scalp, noticing how your body feels. Take deep breaths and imagine it flowing to each body part, paying close attention to the sensations you feel.
