A person's overall health is affected by the relationship between the body's structure and how it is functioning.  Chiropractic care ensures that the parts of the body are working together in harmony.  The spine acts as the main support for the body, protecting the spinal cord, which connects a large part of the peripheral nervous system to the brain. This is why a minor injury to the spine or overuse of muscles can significantly alter one’s strength, sensation, and performance.

Spinal manipulation for chronic low back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions is the most common treatment sought by patients in the US. This has prompted researchers to study the effectiveness and safety of such treatments. The most recent finding confirms why chiropractic is important. The National Institute for Health (NIH) conducted a study that revealed that spinal manipulation is an effective treatment for adults with acute, subacute, and chronic low back or neck pain, migraine, headaches, dizziness, and various joint conditions.

There are days when you don’t understand why you have to deal with so much pain, even though you have already had back surgery, on medication, or have undergone an extensive series of physical therapy. What can you do?  There are three common types of treatment for chronic spinal pain; for short-term AND long-term relief. These include acupuncture, anti-inflammatory drugs, and chiropractic treatment.

Data was published following three unique studies in which patients were divided into the three different groups.  Only the patients who received chiropractic manipulation reached a level of statistically significant improvement, supporting that chiropractic treatment offered the best short-term (within 30 days) and long-term (after two years) benefits for those with chronic back or neck pain.

If you are suffering from pain and have lost, or are starting to lose, the ability to function normally, find a doctor of chiropractic who will help you achieve long-term chiropractic wellness! Following an intensive phase of chiropractic treatment in which the pain and disability levels decrease, it is important to follow up with regular chiropractic service.

Whether amateurs or professionals, it is probable that most people will experience some type of injury related to a sport or fitness regimen. Today’s culture urges us to exercise in order to keep fit and to avoid weight gain. It is a fun way, either with a team or partner, to burn calories, tone muscles, and increase metabolism. Unfortunately, an injury can occur as the result of poor warm-up and stretching techniques, years of poor posture, or a previously undetected spine or joint problem.

Failing to receive the appropriate treatment promptly and continuing to overuse the injured area may prolong the healing process and result in a chronic injury, preventing the athlete from achieving his or her peak level of performance. Some will try to mask the symptoms and the pain with drugs. But if left untreated, the injury will only be compounded with time.

Before beginning an exercise program or training for an athletic event, check with your sports chiropractor for advice on ways to prevent injury. Here are a few guidelines to consider:

As they grow, children experience many falls and mishaps which may seem rather insignificant at the time. As time passes however, these minor injuries can accumulate and become a significant health issue with a lifetime of damaging effects. Studies show that many children who experience symptoms of colic, ear infections and asthma have spinal subluxations impairing their nervous system function.

As a concerned parent, you have probably already started to research the effectiveness of chiropractic pediatric care. The nervous system is the master control system of growth, repair and the function of every tissue and organ in the body.  It serves to,interpret the messages coming from the environment and deciding which messages to send to the body so that it can adjust itself appropriately. Regular chiropractic care keeps this system in correct alignment so that your child’s body receives the correct signals for growing and functioning correctly.
